Apple GeForce 7300 GT firmware update for Mac Pro released, resolves some screen distortion issues

CNET staff

Apple has released a firmware update for the GeForce 7300 GT graphics card used in some Mac Pros.

The updater application will be installed in the /Applications/Utilities folder. Please follow the instructions in the updater application to complete the process.

The update requires Mac OS X 10.4.7 or later.

Several users have reported that this update resolves pre-existing screen distortion issues.

However, we've also received word indicating that this update does not install on all systems with GeForce 7300 GT cards, with the updater package stating "This computer does not need this update." These systems may have shipped from the factory with updated firmware.

The new release is available as a 2 MB standalone download.
