Apple DVD Software 2.0 is available online

Apple continues to empty its shelves of waiting-to-be-released software. They have now placed Apple DVD Software 2.0 on their Software Updates site. "Apple DVD Player 2.0 is a software-only DVD player. It is not compatible with the DVD hardware found in the Power Macintosh G3, PowerBook G3, and Power Mac G4 (PCI graphics) series computers."

This is identical to the software already shipping with iMac DVs and G4 Macs that ship with Mac OS 9. If you already have such software, you need not bother getting it again.

Does it fix the audio/video synch problem that plagued the earlier version of DVD Player? I am not sure. I have never seen the problem when using it on my iMac DV; but others have claimed this update still does not fix the bug.

MacsBug conflict? Cheung Chi Wai received the following error on startup, after installing the update on his iMac DV SE running Mac OS 9: "Apple DVD Player will not run with the debugger installed." He had MacsBug 6.6 installed.
