Apple 17 inch Studio Display vertical lines glitch confirmed by Apple

An Apple internal document has confirmed the vertical lines glitch (mentioned here last time) with the new 17" Studio Display. Apple explains that this display has very fine vertical wires to enhance image sharpness. Exposure to cold or vibrations could cause these wires to "adhere." This will cause the vertical lines to become more visible. Apple states that a repair is not needed for this; they actually recommend "moderately" hitting the side of the display (more or less as described last time), as this breaks the temporary adhesion. If the problem persists, contact an Authorized Apple Service Provider.
