Welcome to CNET Australia's App of the Day, where you can see some of the coolest, silliest and most useful apps in action.

The maker of games such as Game Dev Story and Hot Springs Story, Kairosoft, has come out with another winner, exclusive to Android. Dungeon Village sees you overseeing a town in a fantasy setting, where adventurers and quest finders will stop by on their way to slaughter dragons and pillage dungeons for treasure. Your role isn't to micromanage the combat — you need to keep the town running smoothly, sending the adventurers out on quests, building amenities and making sure that everyone is equipped with armour and weapons to deal with the monsters out there. Unlike many micromanagement games out there, it also avoids the freemium model — once you've bought the game, there is no more money to pay — and keeping everything running smoothly will keep you glued to it for hours.
