AOL has acquired video search company Truveo, a purchase that comes at a time when many top Internet companies are jumping into the video-on-demand business.

AOL's acquisition agreement with Truveo closed on Dec. 21, 2005. Financial terms were not disclosed. Truveo was previously privately held and financed by investors, AOL said in a statement released Tuesday.

Truveo, based in Burlingame, Calif., was founded in January 2004. Truveo launched its video-search engine technology last September.
