Twenty years ago, a popular conspiracy theory held that Ronald Reagan's campaign team had pulled off an "October Surprise" that helped the former actor win the presidency in 1980: The theory, later debunked, was that the Reagan team had offered the Iranians military supplies if they would hold onto the American hostages until after the election, harming Jimmy Carter's chances of staying in the White House.

Now the creators of the irreverent animated television show "South Park" are apparently planning their own October Surprise, according to the Web site for the movie "Team America: World Police," which is "an action-adventure from the creators of 'South Park' using an all-marionette cast." The plot? "Team America, an international police force dedicated to maintaining global stability, learns that a power-hungry dictator is brokering weapons of mass destruction to terrorists. The heroes embark on a harrowing mission to save the world."

Apparently, that sounded a bit familiar to the current White House occupants, and they complained to the Drudge Report. Let's see...October. That should also be just about the time that the last movie to rile the White House should be available on DVD.
