Another fix for Safari connectivity issues

Another fix for Safari connectivity issues

CNET staff

In the past week (see reports 1, 2 and 3) we have been covering an issue where Safari refuses to connect to some Web sites on the first, or even second try, sometimes requiring multiple attempts. Previously reported solutions -- in the aforementioned articles -- include deleting corrupt preference files, re-applying the combo updater, and most successfully a workaround that involves enabling Mac OS X's DNS server.

Mike Stimpson found that using the freeware haxie "Safari No Timeout" resolved the connectivity issues in his case:

"I, too, was experiencing this problem. After reading many users offering various fixes which required 'terminal tampering," I discovered that a much simpler solution is to install Unsanity's 'Safari No Timeout' haxie. This has solved my problems entirely."
