Just listened to your show from CES and wanted to say that you definetly don’t need root to get google wallet on theVerizon Galaxy Nexus, it’s actually S simple as side loading the .apk. I’ve done it on my phone and set up the prepaid card, although I haven’t gotten to try the NFC yet.

Please excuse my brevity… sent from my Galaxy Nexus.

Dearest hosts, please know that it’s NOT necessary to root your phone in order to use Google Wallet. Simply going to Getjar’s app store should make the necessary .apk file available. I believe it can also can be found on the XDA forums. This is how I got it on my GNex, which isn’t rooted.

Hi Android Atlas,

What’s the story with the Samsung Galaxy Nexus battery life? I’ve had the phone for 3 days now. I left the phone un-plugged for 9.5 hours last night, it started out at 100%, by this morning it was 0% (according to the metrics, 90% cell standby, 8% phone idle, 2% Android OS).

The valued employees (aka morons) at the Verizon store told me “”that’s the way it is”".

The Verizon phone support person I called agreed to send me a replacement battery at no charge to try that out.

Any thoughts?

Should I start wearing a hat with solar panels to charge the phone as I walk around?

Is 4G battery usage that bad?

Thank you

Scott

VOICE MAIL from Javon

“Hey, Android Atlas. First, I want to thank you for being so informative in responding to my last email (the one about using my phone as a network adaptor for my Xbox). Second: I recently got a pair of Skullcandy earbuds with built-in controls and an in-line mic. On an iPhone, these controls would adjust the volume, puase music, and answer calls etc. With my Motorolla Cliq 2 running Froyo, however, these controls don’t ever do what they’re inteded to do. The headphones cause my phone to redial the last number I called when I plug in them, even though I didn’t touch the controls; they launch the voice commands application when I unplug them, again, without me actually touching the controls; the volume controls won’t actually adjust the volume, though they’ll occassionally pause or skip a song; and the in-line mic won’t work when I’m making calls, though they’ll turn off the phone’s built-in microphone when they’re plugged in. As far as I know, this will happen with any other headphones with built-in controls as well, so I know my headphones aren’t buggy. So, Atlas Crew, I would like to know if there is a way to fix any, if not all, of these issues. If so, let me know. Thanks.
Love the show,
Adam from Utah
