Thanks for the show, I've learned a lot. I have a Samsung Captivate phone and AT&T sent me an e-mail stating that I should update my operating system. So, I am wondering how would be the best way to backup my phone? Can all backups be done in the same location, or are the Contacts backed up in one place and the Apps somewhere else? Can the backup live on my PC or do I have to use the "cloud"?

Thanks

I was listening to your episode #44 story about how the HTC Thunderbolt failed to include the new Skype with video calling, stirring up my frustration that nobody knows about Yahoo Messenger.

Yahoo Messenger supports front-camera video calling on Android, as well as iPhone and Windows PCs. I’ve tried it on my EVO, successfully video calling with an and iPhone 4, a Thunderbolt, another EVO and a PC. I think it even comes pre-installed on the T-Mobile MyTouch 4G. Yet I still see tech reporters carrying on as if we’re still waiting for Skype, Google Chat, or others to finally give us cross-platform video calling. I’ve tried posted in the comments of some Android blog sites and tried to submit it as news on an EVO site, but no one has noticed yet. So why does nobody seem to know about Yahoo Messenger’s video calling ability?

I’m a friend of a developer at Yahoo who writes the code for their Messenger platform. I knew that last year he was working on iPhone 4 and Android front-camera video calling apps. Last fall it came out for iPhone 4 out on the Apple Apps store, but at the time did not appear on the Android Market. Recently I asked him when we will get it for Android and he surprised me by saying it’s been available for some time already, ever since they finished it in time for the MyTouch 4G launch last November. Sure enough, I downloaded it on the spot and tried it out with him on his iPhone 4.

How has Yahoo managed to keep secret a killer app that beats Skype and Google to the market by a mile?
