Dell is now rolling out version 2.2 of Google's Android operating system to its Streak enormophones in an over the air update, and we've had a go with a Streak running the upgrade.

The most important benefit Streak owners will enjoy as a result of the upgrade is support for Flash Player 10, which will let Streakers cruise all manner of online video and enjoy those banner ads that encourage you to shoot five iPods or kick Santa in the unmentionables.

As you can see in the image above, we tried some CNET UK video on the Streak, and found it played impressively smoothly, roughly in line with 2.2 tablets such as the Samsung Galaxy Tab.

Those who purchased the Streak as an unlocked unit will be getting the update at some point before the end of the month, while those who own a Streak locked to a specific network will have to wait a little longer. These updates are expected later in December.

Do you have the update yet? Are you a carrier-locked Streak owner frustrated at having to wait? Vent that swollen spleen in the comments or on our Facebook wall.
