Amaysim customers will now have three new data options in addition to the existing 1GB for AU$9.90 per month. Heavy data users can choose either a 2.5GB or 4GB allowance for AU$19.90 or AU$29.90 per month, respectively, or can purchase 10GB for AU$99.90 with a 365-day expiry period. Each option is sold without a contract, giving customers the flexibility to switch between data plans each month.

Excess usage charges for customers exceeding their purchased data is 5 cents per MB, as per Amaysim's As You Go service option, or they can opt to buy a new, higher data pack with a new 30-day expiry period. This means customers who use a 1GB pack in less than AU$30 would have to choose the AU$19.90 2.5GB pack or higher or wait until the end of the month.

Pack Price Expiry period Cost per 100MB
1GB $9.90 30 days $0.99
2.5G $19.90 30 days $0.79
4GB $29.90 30 days $0.74
10GB $99.90 365 days $0.99
As You Go $0.05 per MB N/A $5.00

Amaysim will not be selling any hardware to accompany the new plans, though customers can use them with any unlocked USB modem, tablet or phone compatible with the 900MHz and 2100MHz 3G frequencies. Amaysim CEO Rolf Hansen told CNET Australia that the company is considering partnerships with hardware distributors, but ruled out the possibility of Amaysim selling its own branded modems and phones in the near future.

Low-price competitor TPG also announced new mobile broadband plans, with a 500MB option for AU$5 per month, 5GB for AU$24.99 per month, or 9GB for AU$34.99. Each plan requires a hefty once-off AU$20 "SIM charge" and a AU$20 deposit that TPG will use to cover excess data charges if you skip town without paying your bill.
