Alcatel OT-V770: Cheap date, looks good too

Alcatel's latest budget wonder is only 10mm thin and looks great. It's not going to beat the Nokia N95 in terms of features, but it won't burn a hole in your pocket either

Alcatel might be associated with budget handsets such as the popular OT-E801, but we're increasingly impressed with the design and quality of its offerings. No longer are Alcatel's phones something you'd be ashamed of carrying -- they're phones you're going to want to show off.

Take the Alcatel OT-V770 -- it's a slim, sexy-looking handset that's coming out next month and is going to cost under £50. For that humble sum you get an MP3 player and expandable microSD slot with 2GB card included, and a 1.3-megapixel camera. It's available in classy black or Essex white.

Interestingly, the OT-V770 lets you plug it into a PC and use it as a webcam, but we've yet to test that functionality yet, so we can't say how well it works. It might not be the most high-end handset out there, but we think it looks mighty good and look forward to getting our hands on it in the near future. Expect a full review soon. –Andrew Lim
