AirPort 1.3 Software Base Station problem: a follow-up

CNET staff
Regarding our previous report of a loss of AirPort Software Base Station access after waking from sleep, a reader spotted this posting by Judi Sohn on Apple's Discussion Boards:

"I set up a computer to computer network from the G4 so I could quickly get some files off my PowerBook without going through TCP/IP. I set AppleTalk on the G4 to connect via AirPort which I had not done since upgrading to 1.3. I established the network and then transferred the files. Then I set the G4 back to its prior AppleTalk setting (via modem/printer port in a Stealth Serial card) and re-enabled the Software Base Station. Would you believe that the PowerBook has found the G4 Base Station each and every time since then? It has been almost a week and I haven't had to reset once."

Although it is not exactly clear what the critical step is here, several readers reported similar success by following all of the steps.
