Remote Access error Paul Hughes alerted us to his posting in Apple's Tech Exchange that describes the solution to a problem where, after installing AirPort 1.2, you start getting an error that says: "The required Remote Access software was not found on this computer." Paul writes: This is likely a bug with the AirPort Admin Utility. While the last version of AirPort Admin Utility (version 1.1) did not require any Apple Remote Access to be installed in order to run, you must have the "OpenTpt Remote Access" library enabled to run Airport Admin Utility 1.2. Your solution: go to Extensions Manager and be sure OpenTpt Remote Access is enabled. We can confirm that this solution does indeed eliminate the error message. Update: Lieven Baeten adds: "I too had this problem, but Remote Access and OpenTpt Remote Access weren't missing in the Extension folder. The solution finally appeared to be trashing Remote Access preferences. After that everything worked fine." Dave Schroeder adds: "One more issue that happens with AirPort 1.2 if OpenTpt Remote Access is disabled: the AirPort control strip will not show up. Enabling OpenTpt Remote Access also resolves this issue." Signal strength We also can confirm the many reports we have received about an increased range and strength of signal of AirPort connections after installing this update. Apple appears to have done another good job with this update. AirPort is now one of the most reliable components of our setup. AirPort installs OT 2.6.2; AutoPush conflict noted AirPort 1.2 installs Open Transport 2.6.2 (thanks, Robin Walker.) David Mah Ming found that this "appears to conflict with the OT AutoPush Support 1.1.1 extension installed as part of AppleShare IP. Disabling the AutoPush extension will allow your machine to start the ASIP server without freezing up and so far does not seem to affect the performance of my server, which is not usually under heavy load."
