Sony's AFL Premiership 2005 is set for some finals action this year, with the game slated for release on 8 September.

AFL Premiership 2005, which was developed by Melbourne-based IR Gurus, is the official game of the AFL and features all the teams, players, venues and competitions in the competition. The game will also feature on-line functionality allowing gamers to battle rival teams from around Australia.

And in an added bonus, Sony has confirmed that every copy of the game will include a bonus DVD that recounts the 100 year history of Australian Rules football. The game itself also seems set to be an AFL statistician's dream, with analysis of each real-world AFL player's performance from their debut season right up to the 2004 AFL season.

AFL Premiership 2005 features an expanded season mode, which includes pre-season drafts, Wizard Cup games, standard or heritage team jumpers, plus umpire match reports and even the AFL tribunal. The game will also utilise the PS2's EyeToy camera, with gamers given the ability to take a photo of their face and have it inserted in the game as a 3D model.
