Adobe Type Reunion 2.5 problems (confirmation by Adobe)

Tom Cody reports that if you "activate a large numbers of fonts, say 25 families, the pop-up menus in FreeHand 7 or 8 pop up in the strangest places. Shut off some of the fonts and the pop-ups return to their proper place. I haven't yet determined where the cut off is but it very annoying. I suspect Adobe Type Reunion 2.5 is the problem."

Edward Pritts writes: "In Quark 4.04 and Mac OS 8.6, Adobe Type Reunion has a problem with QuarkXPress. Using the measurements box or the format character dialogue, ATR does not group families or show typefaces in their own typeface. It does however work properly under the top menu, Edit."

A reader spotted a posting from Adobe Support that confirms at least some of this: "There is a known problem with Type Reunion 2.5 that won't group the fonts on the Quark 4.x measurements palette."

On a related note, we have had several reports of font problems after installing Mac OS 8.6. In particular, fonts print in italics (even though plain text is selected) or in a size different from the selected size or have otherwise odd formatting. Although we have nothing conclusive yet, ATM and/or ATR appear to be involved.
