Photoshop and PageMaker bug? Gary Cohen writes that "Adobe has acknowledged a problem with Photoshop 5 when exporting greysacle TIFF files into PageMaker. The PageMaker file becomes corrupted and will not open. No fix is currently available other than going back to Photoshop 4." On the other hand, Matt Riley, using PageMaker 6.5.2 andvarious versions of Photoshop, has had no problems here.

ATM, ATR, Quark and Mac OS 8.5 According to an Adobe document: "After activating, autoactivating, or deactivating a font in Adobe Type Manager (ATM) Deluxe 4.0x, some fonts are grayed out on the Font menu in QuarkXPress 3.3x or later." The problem also involves Adobe Type Reunion and is specific to Mac OS 8.5. Work-arounds are described. (Thanks, Eric Taub.) This and related issues have been mentioned previously here at MacFixIt.

ATR and Word 98 According to another Adobe document: "Fonts are not grouped or displayed as expected in Microsoft Word 98's Font menu when Adobe Type Reunion v1.2 or later is installed." Work-arounds are again provided. (Thanks, Eric Taub.) Again, this problem was previously noted on MacFixIt.

German Mac OS 8.5 and Photoshop 4.x Stefan Cords writes that Adobe has confirmed that "the German version of Mac OS 8.5 is not completely compatible with Photoshop 4 (including 4.0.1). Photoshop will quit without warning whenever the user is trying to open an EPS or Illustrator file." A suggested work-around is to delete the Chicago font from the System folder (although this may cause other problems, it seems to me).
