Adobe PS 8.6 driver: PDFplugin problem reported

Don Gillespie writes: "For the past 8 months, I have been using Adobe PS 8.5.1 successfully with another Adobe product called PDFplugin. This plugin lives in the Printer Descriptions folder and allows direct creation of PDF documents from any application without the intermediate step of creating a .PS file and then invoking Distiller.

Then I downloaded Adobe Postscript Printer Driver 8.6 for use on both my G3s and discovered that the PDFplugin facility broke. Normally the plugin shows up as a PPD choice inside the print dialog box named Acrobat PDF. After installing Adobe PS 8.6, on one machine the Acrobat PDF no longer shows up in the list of available PPDs, and on the other activating the File>Print command causes an error message saying that the printer driver cannot locate Acrobat Distiller.

After struggling with it for a couple of hours, I called Adobe Acrobat tech support and found out that the problem had been reported by several users, including the tech support rep himself, and that Adobe will probably post an update as soon as they figure it out."
