Adobe Photoshop 5.0 installs some "older" files?; can cause problems

CNET staff
Microsoft OLE Automation Tim Chong writes: "If installing Adobe Photoshop 5.0 after Office 98, make sure to backup your copy of Microsoft OLE Automation, which is version 2.20 from Office 98. The Photoshop 5 installer will install an version 2.06, which will cause MS Excel 98 not to load at all!" Replacing the 2.06 file with the one from MS Office 98 fixes the problem.

Display Enabler 2.0.2 and Display Library 1.0b1 Jeffrey Cusick writes that, after installing Adobe Photoshop 5.0 on his G3-upgraded 8500, his cursor response slowed down considerably - even when Photoshop was not open. It turned out that Photoshop 5.0 installed Display Enabler 2.0.2 and Display Library 1.0b1. After removing these files, the cursor behavior returned to normal. [Note: The latest display software can be obtained by getting Apple Displays 1.6.]

Update: Mark Corrigan writes that MS OLE Automation only gets installed with a Custom Install. Further, the Read Me file states that MS OLE 2.0.8 will get installed." Mark also reports that an Easy Install did not replace any of his display software.
