Adobe Creative Suite 3 (#2): Installation problems; Photoshop CS3 beta (and others) must be uninstalled before installation

CNET staff

As noted in the installation instructions for Adobe Creative Suite 3.0, beta versions of Photoshop CS3, Flash CS3 or Soundbooth CS3 must be uninstalled before the final, shipping versions can be installed properly.

You can uninstall these applications using the uninstaller located in:

  • Applications/Utilities/Adobe Installers

However, some users have reported that they had to uninstall all Adobe applications, including CS2 apps, before Adobe Crative Suite 3.0 applications can be installed.

MacFixIt reader Jim Sweeney writes:

"I had to remove absolutely every Adobe software package I had on my Mac to install Photoshop CS3 Extended. Everything: CS2 (even though I was only upgrade Photoshop), Acrobat 8.0, Illustrator, InDesign etc. Then I had to physically remove all remnants like libraries and support files. Having all upgrade software, I had to find the original serial numbers to re-install everything."
