Adaptec 29160N SCSI card and 10.1.4: a reader report

It seems as if the 10.1.4 update includes SCSI card support built-in. James Latta writes:

"I am running an Adaptec 29160N card in a G4 Dual 500 MHz machine. After updating to 10.1.4 the SCSI Bus would not always work properly. Today I could not get the bus to mount at all. A look with system profiler showed some very interesting and confused devices on my SCSI bus. The card was recognized but the only device attached to it was a fictional "Seagate Scanner." As for the tape drive, CD Burner and LVD Seagate hard drive, the profiler was silent.

This situation was new to Adaptec tech support so we started experimenting. It turns out that by removing all the Adaptec drivers installed by version 1.1 of the Adaptec driver update, and rebooting, everything works fine."
