Acrobat Distiller PDF file size problem: Adobe confirms it

Lee Heiman finally received a reply from Adobe regarding the PDF file size issue reported here before. Adobe confirms Lee's findings: "We were able to reproduce the file size behavior in Distiller 4.05. The files were generally larger from our testing. The issue was further narrowed down to a more specific cause. The Duotone EPS files from Photoshop were found to be the problem, according to your files as well as others on hand. This was reproducible. The PDF file size was larger in 4.05 than produced via 3.02." Adobe said that this issue had been "logged" but did not promise when or if a fix would be released.
