Acrobat 4.x problems in Mac OS 9?

CNET staff
Arthur Aldrich was having problems with the PDF writer and web capture features of the Acrobat 4.05 update he just received. Ben Thompson had a similar problem where, after installing the update, the Adobe drivers could not write a PDF file that would print to his HP 5si. Both users were running Mac OS 9. In both cases, they contacted Adobe technical support.
Arthur was told that Adobe was aware of the problem and "recommended that I uninstall 4.05 and reinstall 4.0. They had no idea when an update would be available."

Ben was told that "everyone was having trouble with Acrobat 4.0 and 4.05 running with Mac OS 9. In fact, they said, that using Acrobat 'would corrupt my system environment' and that I should either downgrade to 8.6 or wait for an update."

We have not received any confirmation of this from Adobe as yet.
