Acer is cutting prices on three of its PCs as it unveils new ones that tap into Windows 10. Acer

Acer has trimmed prices on a few of its existing PCs, but the sale runs for only a week.

Listed on Acer's website are three PCs currently sporting a price cut. These include the Aspire Switch 11 V, the Aspire V3-574TG-749V and the Aspire R7-371T-70NY. So just what type of PCs are they?

The Aspire Switch 11 V is an 11.6-inch convertible with a detachable keyboard, allowing it to transform from a laptop to a tablet. Packed with a 1,920x1,080 pixel resolution, the Switch 11 V comes with 4 gigabytes of memory and 128GB of onboard storage. The unit regularly costs $650 but is now on sale for $550.

The Aspire V3-574TG-749V is a traditional notebook with a 2.4GHz Intel Core i7 process and a 15.6-inch screen with a resolution of 1,366x768 pixels. Equipped with 4GB of memory, the notebook packs in a 1 terabyte hard drive. This one is on sale for $800, down from $900.

The Aspire R7-371T-70NY is another convertible laptop but with a twist. You can position this PC into a variety of angles so it can function as a notebook or a display unit for watching videos and other content. Powered by an Intel Core i7 processor, this unit features a 13.3-inch screen with a resolution of 1,920x1,080 pixels. With 8GB of RAM and 512GB of storage, this one is on sale for $1,300, down from $1,500.

The Aspire Switch 11 V and the Aspire V3-574TG-749V both run Windows 10 Home edition. The Aspire R7-371T-70NY is still stuck with Windows 8.1, though you can freely upgrade it to Windows 10 through Microsoft's current upgrade offer.

Why the sale at this point? An Acer spokeswoman said that the company wanted to offer promotions on some of its popular Windows 10 devices. But Acer is also focusing on new products.

Following up on last Tuesday's Windows 10 device launch event by Microsoft, Acer is getting into the act with new models. At a press conference in Taipei on Monday, the company introduced the Aspire R 14 convertible notebook and the Aspire Z3-700 portable all-in-one PC, both built from the ground up to take advantage of Windows 10.

"We worked closely with Acer to help ensure their devices would make the most of Windows 10," Terry Myerson, executive vice president of Microsoft's windows and devices group, said in a statement.

Both of the new PCs offer enhanced digital signal processing for the dual microphones, which cuts out background noise and improves speech accuracy. Another feature called Acer BluelightShield reduces eye strain by limiting the screen's blue-light emission.

But that's not all. Acer also revealed a new smartphone at its press event. Known as the Liquid Jade Primo, the new phone offers a 5.5-inch screen and will run the mobile version of Windows 10.

Acer's current sale on its three older devices is good only online and runs through October 18, according to the spokeswoman.
