A Sports Illustrated swimsuit video game?

The football season just ended, and roidball is nearing spring training, which can mean only one thing: It's time for the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition. [Missing Links]

Scott Ard Former Editor in Chief, CNET
CNET former Editor in Chief Scott Ard has been a journalist for more than 20 years and an early tech adopter for even longer. Those two passions led him to editing one of the first tech sections for a daily newspaper in the mid 1990s, and to joining CNET part-time in 1996 and full-time a few years later.

What's the tech connection to skimpy suits and skin? Plenty, and it's growing as SI publisher Time Warner seeks new ways monetize from the 41-year-old franchise. A digital version of the magazine can be downloaded for $5.99, and true aficionados can pick their favorite pics to create custom calendars and posters (though the feature appeared on the fritz Tuesday afternoon). For the mobile crowd, cell phone screensavers are also available. As the Web site says, "See how good your phone looks in a bikini."

According to this CNN article, video games featuring the barely clad models could be next on the publisher's menu.

And lastly, no write-up of an American cultural phenomenon is complete without a trip to eBay. That's right, you have five more days to bid on the very first SI swimsuit issue, dated Jan. 20, 1964. Current bidding is at $22. As the seller states: "WoW."
