A ride straight out of Valhalla: The 2012 Acura TL cross-promotes with 'Thor'

Acura and Marvel Entertainment announced today the details of a promotional campaign for 'Thor' and the 2012 Acura TL.

Pairing sexy cars a with summer movie blockbusters has been a long-standing tradition--like last year's "Iron Man 2," which featured the 2011 R8 Spyder 5.2 Quattro supercar. This summer, "Thor", will team up with Acura for a major cross-promotion featuring the 2012 Acura TL .

The 2012 Acura TL comes standard with a 280-horsepower, 3.5-liter, VTEC V-6. The TL with a tech package is loaded with navigation and entertainment features. Acura

In the movie "Thor," S.H.I.E.L.D. agents, worldwide peace-keeping organization of the Marvel Comics universe, drive various Acura vehicles, including the MDX, ZDX, RL and TL models. The TL will be the only model featured in ad spots, which include a 30-second TV on 18 cable networks such as ESPN, Cartoon Network's Adult Swim, and Comedy Central, as well as a fan page on Facebook.

"Acura is thrilled to launch this joint venture with Marvel," said Susie Rossick, brand manager of Acura National Advertising. "Being the official vehicle of the cutting-edge S.H.I.E.L.D. organization is a perfect opportunity to reinforce Acura's brand philosophy of innovation and advancement."

The body of the midsize TL has been given an upgrade , and it's priced to start at $35,000, so the TL will take you to the movie theater in style.

A S.H.I.E.L.D.-embellished Acura TL will be on display week at the 2011 New York auto show and Pier 83. "Thor" opens in theaters nationwide May 6, 2011.
