The Microplane Ultimate Citrus Tool Crate and Barrel

I have a Microplane that I use for just about everything in my kitchen. But though it's the perfect size for working with garlic, having a wider surface area would come in handy when I need to zest an entire orange. Microplane's makers seem to have had the same idea: the new Microplane Ultimate Citrus Tool. It can zest, score, and garnish with any sort of citrus peel. This is a tool that comes in handy for a cook, as well as a bartender: it can create perfect curls for your favorite cocktails just as easily as it can add zest to your baking. The Microplane Ultimate Citrus Tool is 8 1/4 inches long, which is large enough to handle even big citrus, like grapefruit.

The Microplane Ultimate Citrus Tool has 300 series surgical stainless steel blades that can glide through citrus peels almost as if they weren't there. It comes with a protective cover so that you can't accidentally brush your hand against those sharp edges when you're looking through a drawer. The Microplane Ultimate Citrus Tool has a yellow handle made from thermoplastic rubber that is soft to use and provides a good grip. You can run it through the dishwasher in the top rack, although the cover should be hand-washed.
