A Lego 'Ghostbusters' short full of geeky cameos

Watch Lego artist Marc-André Caron's epic Lego Ghostbusters short film. Who he chose to play Slimer will surprise you.

This year marks the 30-year anniversary for "Ghostbusters," the hilarious supernatural comedy starring Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis, Rick Moranis and Sigourney Weaver. To mark the occasion, Marc-André Caron, who makes Lego shorts for his YouTube channel MonsieurCaron, released a 4-minute short where the trusty ghost-busting crew fight their biggest, most hungry ghost yet.

Unfortunately, there isn't (yet) a Lego version of Slimer, so Caron had to improvise. He looked for another gluttonous Lego character to take Slimer's place, and settled on Springfield's lovable oaf Homer Simpson.

In the short, the gang of Ghostbusters travel around the city in their trusty Ecto-1, chasing the ghost of Homer Simpson who is causing a ruckus by eating everything in sight. The result, as you'd expect, is a hilarious and entertaining film that's well worth the watch.

Characters from other beloved franchises make cameos throughout the film. When the Ecto-1 arrives at the hotel, for example, the crew park behind the DeLorean with Marty McFly behind the wheel. We also spotted characters from "Star Wars", "Lord of the Rings," and several other geek favorites throughout.

Check out the video in full at the top of this post, and if you'd like to see how Caron put it all together, you can watch the behind-the-scenes video as well.
