Purveyor of high-quality, highly sweary telly HBO has signed a deal with 3 to let you watch programmes on your mobile phone. The US network will bring full episodes of shows like The Sopranos, The Wire and Band of Brothers to 3's subscription on-demand service, TV: On Demand.

3 already offers access to WarnerTV. This lets you watch TV from Warner Bros, including geekfests The Big Bang Theory and Chuck, and televisual comfort blanket Friends.

HBO has produced a swathe of TV programmes with a legitimate claim to being among the greatest ever made: The Sopranos, Curb Your Enthusiasm, The Wire, Entourage, Flight of the Conchords, Band of Brothers, Six Feet Under and Sex and the City -- not that we've ever seen Sex and the City, of course.

Current HBO highlights include Band of Brothers follow-up The Pacific, vampire saga True Blood, and Dixie-fried drama Treme, from the creator of The Wire. Coming soon are The Special Relationship, starring Dennis Quaid as Bill Clinton and Michael Sheen as Tony Blair, and prohibition-era gangster drama Boardwalk Empire, from Martin Scorsese and Sopranos writer Terence Winter, and starring Steve Buscemi. We won't be watching that on our phone, though -- if anything deserves a big screen, it's Marty and Mr Pink getting their gangster on.

We've dropped 3 a line to see if they can give us a date from which you'll be able to access HBO's shows. We'll let you know when we do. In the meantime, for more on your favourite shows, put your feet up in front of our sister site TV.com, featuring news, previews and discussion about all the best telly.
