It may seem like a luxury car, and cost as much, but the Panamera Turbo S handles better and goes faster than most sport cars.

The cabin is lined with leather, wood, and metal. Front and back seats get climate control plus individual heating and cooling. The Burmester audio system produces exceptionally clean and detailed sound. All of this, and the near $200 grand price tag would make you think the 2012 Porsche Panamera Turbo S is a luxury cruiser. It even has five doors.

But driving the thing tells a different story. Engage the launch control and it takes just 3.6 seconds to get to 60 mph. An adaptive suspension helps it devour corners, and big brake calipers give it excellent stopping power. It handles better than any car of this size has a right.

Porsche has given the Panamera Turbo S genius levels of performance, all thanks to some incredibly good technology.

Differences over the car's looks have produced a few brawls among CNET editors, but the Panamera's design just doesn't matter when you're in the cabin, bombing down the road at ridiculous speeds with complete composure.
