1KB BTree clumpsize problem in Mac OS 8.1
Fabrizio Oddone (author of Disk Charmer) sent me the following information: Mac OS 8.1 damages "larger disks" formatted with 1KB BTree clumpsize. After adding a few files under Mac OS 8.1, Disk First Aid will report the disk irrecoverably damaged. An end user can get such disks in several ways:
a. using my Disk Charmer app with the "Make disks larger" option
b. using the old freeware "1433K free 0.2a" by G&S Speranza (March 1992)
c. from an acquaintance or software publisher (who wanted to pack more data on the disk)
You can get more details from a web page at Fabrizio's web site. The MRP adds some more background.
