As if Bill Buckner hasn't suffered enough--to say nothing of Red Sox fans--now comes a video of someone painstakingly re-enacting the infamous Game 6 of the 1986 World Series in "RBI Baseball" for the NES video game console.

According to Waxy.org, "RBI Baseball" was itself a 1987 release. And compared with today's spiffy, realistic graphics, the look and feel of the fake Game 6 video is positively comical.

And, it's not entirely true to life. I can't vouch for the entirety of the 10th inning of that infamous game, but I can say that the ball went through Buckner's legs, rather than bouncing in front of him.

And where's the excitement of Ray Knight running down the third-base line hands on his head in disbelief that the Mets had won the game?

Well, one shouldn't ask for too much from a 19-year-old video game. Ultimately, the point is made as slowly, but surely, the Mets come from behind and vanquish the Sox. And Buckner will never be same. Again.
