Pros Great time-waster (if that's what you're looking for)...
Cons Constantly disconnecting, failed file transfers, SUPER SLOW (0.2% or less of a gigabit connection).
Summary Don't be stupid enough to buy this thing.
Pros Good concept and should be able to back-up multiple devices. Hardware seems okay. WD support gets an "A+++" for effort.
Cons Software fails routinely. Reinstalled at least 5 times including 3 times by WD support & it still fails routinely. Even when it fails, it shows it has succeeded but when you check the files are not backed-up. Can only allow 1 schedule for b/u.
Summary DO NOT PURCHASE. This device is highly unreliable if you are depending on the WD software that comes with it. Not sure about the speed of the hardware....
"The worst ever."on by xtranet
Pros It's not too expensive
Cons It doesn't last very long, and give not hint that it's going to fail. When it does work, it takes 40-90 seconds to respond, and then it takes just as long as that to open any folder.
Summary In essence it's a piece of worthless junk. I used to thing that WD meant quality, obviously they use their external drives as a way to get rid of their outdated/defective inventory. STAY AWAY. My recommendation is to look for a real hard drive from a quality manufacturer. WD is not it.
Pros 2TB harddrive
Cons 1. Slow
2. WD2go is a joke as it constantly crashes pc and mac as it hangs continually
3. WD2go maps folders to your Mac/PC but take forever to populate
4. Downloading is next to impossible
Summary Stay as far away from the nas as possible
Pros Can store things like an external at an incredibly slow transfer rate (sarcasm, there are no pros to this piece of junk)
Cons Where to begin...
1. Getting the MBL to function consistently is a chore
2. Twonky media server really was a POOR choice
3. Drops connectivity constantly
4. Mediacrawler process drags everything
5. SLOOOOW transfer rate
Summary I would not recommend this product to anyone unless they have a computer engineering degree or an IT degree and love going on community boards and discussion boards for hours upon hours. The time i've spend trying to get this thing to work is unreal. It seems everytime I want to watch a movie with my family via DLNA the MBL cannot connect, or twonky media server is updating uncontrollably and cannot be stopped which causes a massive lag in the entire hard drive. Or I cannot login to the MBL dashboard for whatever reason. This thing comes very user UNFRIENDLY. If you want it to work at its full potential you have to set the IP address to static. Of course, if you're a biologist with limited computer programming, SSH, or IT background like myself this does not come easy. People on boards are usually not the nicest and this thing took two weeks with constant restarts to get functioning. Oh yea, and Western Digitals customer service is a joke. THey have one solution, reboot the MBL, if that does not work, factory restart, WHICH WIPES THE DRIVE! ***?? Anyway, just don't buy this piece of junk. I've had so many frustrated nights trying to get this to work. If I could return it I would.
