"Disgusted with setup instructions"
on by northernscoutPros Great way to store material you want to share with other computers, if you could get it to work.
Cons Once attached to my Linksys router communications stopped with the outside world. Rebooted the router and it started to work again but then immediately quit after issuing some instruction.
Summary My interaction has been quite negative with this device so far. It would likely be alright on a Mac but there I'd be happier getting an Airport Extreme. The setup on my PC got scary when I was instructed to turn off my Firewall. I did not like it causing my communications with the outside to lock up the way it did. I had to do multiple reboots. This is not plug and play for a PC installation and probably not for amateurs. Instructions not very clear. There are several pages of them and you really need to print them out. Unfortunately there are captured images with black backgrounds within the pages that don't show up well when printed. Maybe better if they were printed on photo paper but that would be way too expensive an undertaking.
Not for the faint hearted. I do not recommend it. It's a physically attractive package but not something that's easy to set up and expect to run, plug and play right out of the box it's not.
I doubt that I can take this unit back to the store now so will have to go through the setup again a few more times and hope that I can make it work, otherwise it's an expensive paper weight. One thing I'm hoping for is to use it as a printer sharing device. Once again an Apple Airport Extreme would have done all of that and probably better. Starting to see why my son, the advanced programmer, switched over to Apple several years ago and has never looked back. Much less complicated in ways I never appreciated before.

"DLNA support stop working after 1 month of use"
on by wpaezPros great looks! not noisy!
Cons DLNA support worked just fine after setting it up for the first time, but after a month my samsung tv doesn't see it as a DLNA device, so is just a networked hard disk!
Summary In concept is a great product, I don't have to keep my pc running in order to stream video to my tv, but in practice it doesn't have the availability of all the services it's supposed to give!
