"My God this is bad!"on by ccnapro
Pros Can Hold down maps on desk
Cons Everything I have owned that was Seagate is junk.
Summary I am a computer guy. Seagate seems to think that everyone has a disk drive on there computer. This is not the case. I have had nothing but problems with Seagate equipment over the years and should have remembered that before I got this drive. It will be back in the box and back to the store tomorrow AM. NEVER BUY THIS DRIVE!

Pros Large Capacity
Cons Seagate Manager can't find its own drive.
Summary Funny how Seagate Manager can't see its own drive but my Windows XP(SP2) can. I copy and paste using the Windows Explorer, but can't use the Seagate program which is worthless.
Pros Its black so it blends into the background
Cons Poorly designed
Rubbish build quality
Summary Do yourself a favour, do not buy this piece of crap.
Pros Haven't noticed any. Remorseless corporations deserve punishment.
Cons Seagate should be ashamed of themselves, and should give everyone their money back.
Summary The USB printer port does not work properly. Print jobs take all day or just hang.
The USB external drive port does not work properly; NTFS drives that light up fine on any Windows or Linux system are not recognized.
The drive is *almost* impossible to rename, and so can barely be made to coexist on a network with another drive just like it.
There is no way to fix any of these problems, because the underlying firmware is completely inaccessible to the user.
The web-based user interface is next to useless.
The backup software that comes with it, and the stupid little dashboard program that is supposed to manage the drive, are useless.
Technical support for this product is polite, but knows nothing useful about the product; it's like asking angels about sex.
If you have the misfortune to own one of these boat anchors, I suggest that you rip the plastic off and stick the hard drive in a bare NAS or an old Linux box. Throw the base station away.
Pros None, except being black.
Cons It disappears from the network every time you try to access it, and after one year when I tried to restore a backup it was corrupted, and the warranty does not cover data, so now my work is gone!
