"Stay away from Seagate!!!!"

0.5 stars  | on by mfl222

Pros

Was fairly easy to setup

Cons

Setup was easy what I didn't know is I was the one being setup. The unit failed in a few months and I was using it as my primary source of storage and now they want $1,800 to rescue my data.

Summary

In the 21st cetury I cannot believe that this type of highway robbery still exists. Seagate sells you a unit that fails during warranty and now they want 12x (that;s correct) what you paid to resolve the issue. Seriously Seagate you should be ashamed. I will never go near ... Read full review

I will never go near another Seagate product and I manage a firm with several hundred employees that I assure you will get the message also. Seagate STAND Behind your products or face elimination!!!!!

"Would not recommend this product to anyone."

Pros

Easy setup.

Cons

My drive also failed and I have lost all my data. I kept a copy on my computer - so I'm ok for now. Seagate offered to replace the entire system - but I have to return the entire unit to them.

Summary

I will just break this thing into little pieces so there is no chance anyone can get to my data. I would not go with Seagate anymore - especially since the only other review on Cnet is a negative one.

"Garbage. Ongoing nightmare"

Pros

Thought it would provide added capacity inexpensively

Cons

Not only did it fail (hired network specialist who indicated the internal network card cause issues on my network) but then customer service ran me through an apparently endless loop of tests...

Summary

I am a home network user and just wanted to add some safety/capacity to my home network. After I moved my data to this drive it began failing (bringing down my entire network). After several hours of hoop jumping with customer support I ended up hiring a network specialist to try and troubleshoot the problems. He took the drive away and discovered that it had internal network card issues. Bottom line: My drive is shot and my data gone. So much for saving time and money eh? They are very eager to send me to their "data recovery" team that can help me get my data back for a fee... anyone see an issue here? Oh my aching head...
