Pros Looks fancy, Has a sturdy enclosure. Compact. Fairly easy to use. Uses XFS as files system.
Cons writing over a 1Gig Ethernet connection 3.5MB/s, reading 4MB/s.
Some noise from the internal fan, however temp controlled
Summary There must be faster NASse out there but I primarily use it as a backup for my RAID5 NAS.
Pros Lots of features declared.
Cons Too slow!
Write speed: about 3 Mb/s max!!! (USB & ethernet)
Writing 100 Gb will take more than 10 hours!
Don't work with national characters in file names!
Support said that they didn't declared national chars support so they won't even investigate.
Summary Support sucks. Device is unusable.
Pros Supports Large media files > 4gig. Share with MAC's, PC's, and Media set top TV boxes.
Cons Newer models support Time Machine but this one didn't
Summary Most AVI movies (700-1.37 Gig files) copy in 4-7 minutes. 4.7Gig DVD's copy in 14 minutes. Make sure you use a good gigabit switch and cat 6 cables. Copy Speed seems to be more dependent on my computers internal drive speed. CNet didn't specify what they were copying from in their test.
Pros Easy configurable, multi platform. Has very much services, http, ftp,SMB,apple connect and pnp/av
Cons Transfer speed of this device is:
8,40 MB/s for write.
So it does a 4,7GB DVD in 9,5 minutes.
USB2.0 does 27.67 MB/s
So it may connect to a gigabit lan, the transfer speeds are that of a 100Mbit lan NAS.
Summary Useless if you need a fast hard disk, otherwise fine. I shipped this back to the vendor.
Pros 1 month since I bought it and I still can't get music from the server to my iPod.
Cons Support sucks. Product sucks. Software is worse than that.
Summary All I wanted was a networked hard drive. Instead I have something that gets in the way of everything I want to do. Came with no CD. No way to download setup software. Wait for it to come in the mail. Configuration was a nightmare. Now it works with the PC, but iPod just tells me about the music and won't play it. I have spent hours make that days on this piece of crap.
