"Easy and reliable"
on by LaurelBrowningPros Reliable, easy to use.
Cons All good thus far
Summary This is a good and reliable solution for central data storage. We bought it to replace an old server that was quite temperamental. This unit is much easier to manage, and the software is quite user-friendly too. All we had to do was plug it in, set up some folders and permissions, and now everyone's data is backed up and saved to this drive.

"Excellent quality and performance"
on by DerekTannerPros failover & load balancing, good value, large capacity, sturdy aluminum body, UPS support, remote access
Cons no comments
Summary We've been using this server for about 6 months. Setting it up was a breeze. Everything was straightforward and easy to understand. The users can access their share of the drive from any location, which is a very useful feature when someone is working remotely or traveling. We have connected it up to the UPS unit, to prevent accidental shutdown in case of power outage. The device has been working as advertised thus far. It has a fantastic aluminum enclosure, great feature set, and good software.

"Works well!"
on by Pierre MaddoxPros easy to install, easy RAID configuration, super safe
Cons so far none
Summary 5big Network 2 offers several levels of protection, and I find it to be perfect for a small office environment like ours. The dual Ethernet interface allows to increase transfer rates. The unit supports dual eSATA and USB 2.0. RAID5 + Spare mode makes the device more reliable (if one of the hard drives fails, then the fifth drive is automatically mounted into the array). This makes our network even more secure. I'm more than happy with this server and would buy another.

"Good network RAID-array"
on by eleiveevnGeePros good RAID performance, remote access
Cons a bit heavy
Summary The unit is very well made. It can be used as a file server or as a print server. I can download torrents to it and even stream audio files through the network. The device can be accessed from any machine that is connected to the Internet (providing the remote access is set up), which is great for travelers like myself. The LAN load balancing is very practical, it allows to double the transfer speed over the local network. The device is rather heavy due to the solid aluminum enclosure. Overall I'm pleased with the way it works, the design and the quality.

"Works great and easy to manage"
on by blackmon.robert15Pros dynamic DNS remote access, easy to install, great concept
Cons a bit heavy
Summary The 5big is very easy to setup and administer. The network setting was set up automatically thanks to dynamic DNS and DHCP/Apipa support. Setting up user accounts and quotas doesn't require any special skills either. Everything can be managed from the user-friendly administrator interface. We've been using this server for almost a year now, and haven't had any issues so far.
