"Nice basic package for backup"
on by IndaplexPros Fast, and quiet in a pretty small package
Cons A little pricey and the indicator lights might be too bright for romance
Summary Excellent device, but then again I just got it a few days ago. Anyway, it has the basics I was looking for. Pretty simple criteria: fast, quiet, easy to get it running.
Good software setup. Although some reviews had installation issues, I didn't have any surprises.
Basically, it has some additional features, such as accessing files via FTP, NFS or on an internal web browser. Has some built in security, though pretty basic. Takes a little more work to get it more secure, and that's to be expected given it's on a network (NAS).
Can use standard Win/Linux command to connect (net use; mount) out of the box.
Only does Raid 1, but that's fine for me since I really just wanted a backup for my media and multiple machines. It didn't come setup for RAID 1, instead having 2 X 500Mb volumes. The process to setup the raid was easy with the software.
Haven't used the printer feature. Looks nice but I don't need it. Can I get a credit?
Only downside is price per Mb is a little high.
