Pros Nothing comes to mind. It seemed light?
Cons Lemon out of the box. Immediate error messages, telling me to contact the manufacturer. Would not boot up.
Summary I was excited to see such positive reviews for this laptop on cnet, as I have been looking for an decently-priced windows ultrabook that anyone had anything nice to say about. Every article or review I had read previously urged that it if you could avoid buying an ultrabook for a while that you should do so since most were replete with flaws.
So I took a chance and ordered it from amazon. The computer arrived today, but would not boot correctly and displayed an error message stating that the system was corrupted (or some such) and to contact the manufacturer.
Disappointed, I contacted amazon, thinking it was just bad luck on my part. While attempting to set up an exchange, the amazon customer service rep declared that he was sorry to inform me that he could not send me out another Toshiba Satellite U845t because they had received so many complaints about them having the problem that mine did, that amazon was pulling them off of the website ASAP.
The amazon rep mentioned that Toshiba was aware of the problem and would have it fixed by late May.
Pretty frustrating experience all and all. I'm not trying to trash Toshiba or anything, but I just thought I should share my experience in hopes of saving someone else the frustration. Maybe the good people at cnet can look into what is going on with this model and whether what I was told is indeed true.
Pros Not ready for prime time. Could be a good value with the infant mortality issues resolved.?
Cons No integrated Blue tooth, antenna only. Toshiba says you have to buy an external nano adapter and take up a USB slot. If you don't want blue tooth or don't care about one less USB port no big deal
Summary BTW: wait for Toshiba to fix all the issues and watch Amazon for details.
Pros It has provided me with all the features that I was looking and more from a lap top
Cons Ms windows 8 crap. Thats No fault of toshiba!
Summary This laptop exceeded my expectations, it is thin & light while not compromising performance with its i5 processor and 6 GB of RAM. I bought this laptop after CNET dubbed it their "most recommendable laptop of 2013" so far. The battery life is fantastic. The touch screen is very responsive and the battery life is fantastic compared to its peers. The only downside in my mind is the screen could be a higher resolution. I did not know what to expect switching to windows 8 from windows 7 after reading very mixed reviews. I personally think windows 8 is fantastic once you get the hang of it and it boots in 5 seconds! At under $800 dollars this a solid buy that I do not regret.
