Summary This Toshiba 'craptop' has been nothing but trouble since day 1. It has not worked for over 60 consecutive days since I purchased it 3 years ago. I bought the extended warranty, which I have used so many times. I sent it in, and took it to the authorized service centers, thinking maybe the repair centers weren't very good. Both would fix it temporarily, then it would start up. Let me also add that the battery life is horrible, I read 1.5 hours, but mine is lucky to last 45 mins., and that is on the most power efficient setting. The power jack to charge doesn't want to work, or make a good connection, this has been a constant problem, I plug it in, and the green a/c light comes on, but not the orange charging light, and when you click on the battery info, it's not charging. At first I thought maybe the light was out on the front. It has had 4 motherboards, 3 HD's, new memory, and countless power jack repairs. I use this pc at home, only time it leaves the house is to go to repair(well I guess it does leave the house quite often). I have tried to contact Toshiba's management, and they won't discuss any issues, even though they can see a history of the repairs on the laptop. The extended warranty ended 2 weeks ago, and the HD died 3 days ago. I have been reading about the Toshiba HD's and how they burn up. I am going to sell this for spare parts, and buy a laptop that isn't a craptop. To top it off, the last time I had to repair it, I took it to a 'local' service center, and on the way home was stopped at a light, and rear ended by a car behind me, with no insurance..LOL Not Toshiba's fault directly, but had it worked, I would have been home that day...LOL Seriously though, this laptop is such a piece of junk. Until reading out here, I thought I was alone in my nightmare with Toshiba. Funny thing was, when I was looking for a laptop, Toshiba was so highly recommended. Obviously they have went downhill in quality and customer service since. It is frustrating to have such a junker, but when you call to send it in, and tell them what is wrong, they just keep repeating it over and over, in broken English. "Laptop no charge?" Then a few minutes later.."So laptop no charge?" Like I have called in to make a crank call. NO it didn't work 10 mins. ago, still ain't working. It makes it even more upsetting when you pay almost $2,000 for a laptop that winds up being a paperweight.

Summary This computer was a nightmare. From the beginning it was very noisy. I later learned that is because it was constantly overheating. The motherboard burnt up twice in one year. Toshiba was very difficult to deal with and only offered me a refurbished Qosmio after weeks of discussion, argument and paperwork/emails.
BTW, the Qosmio is already overheating and the disk drive doesn't work.

Summary I had to have this repaired multiple times, it overheated a million times, sound fails all the time. Even after repaired, only works temporarily. I like it just wish it would behave consistantly.
Pros Great screen, large HDD capacity.
Cons One thing after another failed. very unreliable, can't make DVD region free.
Summary In order of failure:
DVD: Toshiba have gone out of their way to prevent the DVD player being made region-free. A definite minus for a multimedia machine.
Power supply: 3 months - Crack at connection point
TV tuner: 6 months - no sound
USB ports: 1 year - Can get nothing but "power surge on port".
Wireless 802.11: 18 months - Card stopped receiving packets. Replaced with plugin.
Hard drive: 2 years - Complete death. Replaced.
DVD: 2 years - After 15 minutes of heating, stops reading.
I paid premium price for mine and won't be buying Toshiba again.
Pros Very nice design. Lots of features. Nicest looking computer I have ever owned.
Cons Don't buy this computer at Costco regardless of the reasonable price. The DVD drive basically crashes on you and tech support does not offer much help. I exchanged it once, and the same problem occured on both computers.
