"Many problems"on by tubaman93
Pros Inexpensive, Many ports/features, good graphics card for the money, CD burning
Cons Flawed and Noisy, not sturdy
Summary This notebook was great...at first.
After about six months, the system board had to be switched twice, and the AC port was loose after every two months (leaving it unable to charge most of time without any notifications). I've sent in my computer about 4 times already to Toshiba, and their support is mediocre.
The fan runs ALL the time, and it will not go away. Even if you put it in standby/hibernation, the fan will sound off during that state, but will continue to go when the computer goes back on.
Pros Lightweight, wide screen, DVD-ROM & CD-RW
Cons should have gotten the Tru-Bright screen
Summary This replaced a Gateway (to hell) laptop. It is used for lightweight computing: e-mail, documents, spreadsheets, CD burning, puzzle games, and simple home-user stuff. Excellent value and reliable. Highly recommended for the mobile user, teacher, student, and home-user. Would buy another Toshiba in a heart-beat.
Pros Got it at Circuit City for $599 after rebate including router and printer. Wide screen, 60 Gb drive, 512 Mb memory, what more can you ask for.
Cons Instructions are hard to find.
Pros It keeps working! Did well - was fast enough in 2005 (as I remember it) when I bought it new. Never skipped a beat. Took it everywhere. Cross continental, International, everywhere!
Cons Slow, by today's standards. Battery was not supposed to last longer than 1.5 hours. Usually got 45-60 min.
Summary My Atrix cell phone has double the ram, close to the same storage (48Gb) and a faster processor (Dual Core). But this old Toshiba keeps on working. I'll keep it until "the wheels fall of." Never did anything to it except replace the battery.
Pros Basic Laptop- Email, Surfing the Web, Documents
Cons Horrible Battery Life, Noisy Fan, HORRIBLE BATTERY LIFE!
Summary The Toshiba M35X-S161 Satellite is an entry level notebook that has served me well through college. As a basic laptop its performance is satisfactory. The M35X is by no means a great multi-media/gaming machine, but the M35X serves as a great: Web surfing, E-mail, IM, Documents/Spreadsheets laptop. However, make sure you are near a power supply at all times! With no exaggeration you can expect about 2hours of battery life from the M35X; and with WIFI on, expect even less! But I can't complain, I guess you get what you pay for! I snagged this laptop for $700 at Fry’s Electronics. If you are a poor college student looking for a laptop to get homework done, the Toshiba M35X-S161 will do the job.
