Pros Play's crysis, light weigh, fast for what it is.
Cons battery life is not as good as other laptops.
Summary it a good laptop for the money
Pros Good Price
Dedicated Graphics Card
Cons The processor could be slightly more powerful, but that is really all that could be a con.
Summary I got this computer for $489.99 on Black Friday from Office Depot, so it is a very good deal. The RAM is ample, the processor is powerful, the hard drive is large, the graphics card is great, the speakers are awesome, it is very light, the screen looks good, the preloaded software is useful, the 64-bit operating system is fast, and the computer looks just really good, the design is pretty, the buttons are useful, and the lights are cool.
Pros Fast. The 4gb Ram is good and the 200gb hard is ok. The speed to me was important most of all. I upgaraded mine to Windows 7.
Cons I wish mine was a wider screen for what I do.
Summary I've had this computer for awhile and it has been a good work horse for me. I've owned and operated computers since the 80's and got a good understanding of them.
Pros Very affordable
fast when upgraded with windows 7
Portable and Lightweight
video connector shorts and causes screen to flicker
the lack of hdmi, even though their is a place for it
Summary The laptop is good for the price, When i upgraded to windows 7 the performance increased. The biggest problem with the laptop is how hot it gets, it will burn your thighs. Mine has a really touchy cable and it causes the screen to flicker. My battery last about 1.5 hours on balanced. I had to replace my AC adapter after it overheated.
Pros Great speakers
Holds up well under high daily use
Cons Screen fails to turn on when restarting from Windows
Faulty volume knob as others reported
Battery life is not so great (2 hrs max)
Summary I must have gotten lucky with my M305D-S4831, reading these other reviews. I've used it heavily for just over 2 years and still love it. I plan on buying another Toshiba when I need a replacement.
My only major gripe about this model is that there must be something wrong with the Windows image so that when you restart the machine from Windows, the screen won't turn on, not even a backlight. I'm sure it's linked to Windows because I installed Ubuntu on a partition and the screen comes back on when I reboot from there. I haven't tried installing a clean copy of Windows, only the restore disc version, but there are other reports of this problem if you Google.
My volume knob also broke pretty quickly, like others say.
I have not had any overheating problems with this model like the other reviews claim. I'm on the computer for hours a day, using it on my lap, with a pad underneath for ventilation, and never had it shut down on me or give any errors.
I wouldn't recommend trying any new video games on it, but I've played older games like Oblivion and Sims 3 on it for long periods with no ill effect. Don't play games with it on your lap, though.
