Lighted keyboard ease/smooth click of use of the left and right click buttons love the mouse pad all features. Thank you for making a wonderful laptop ty ty.

Shiny and slick keyboard with great tactile response when typing, feels good on my fingertips. Good screen resolution for basic surfing, video. No need to consider bumping up RAM with 4GB unless you are doing video editing of your family vacations.
One dead pixel in the screen. Feels "too" plastic and toy-like with the finish but sturdy. The chrome-like coating on the trackpad buttons is kinda thin and looks like it is starting to rub off.
The processor seems to be handling web surfing and a couple of other processes with aplomb and hasn't hung up yet. I got this to replace an older P4 desktop and will be transferring my older VHS movies to DVD with this. The P4 handled the archiving duty adequately and I expect this to do as well or better in a smaller and lighter footprint. There was a lot of bloatware but some of it seems kinda useful so I won't be uninstalling everything. The humongous battery looks like it can handle hours of use but I won't be doing video transfer without this laptop being plugged in. I won't be toting this around everyday so the lift created by the 12 cell battery gives the bottom room for additional ventilation but I can seen this being a challenge to fit into a case to lug this thing around. Overall aside from the Toshiba HDD protection feature that is set too senstively and warns you of each little jiggle on the keyboard or bump there wasn't much of anything that I found too annoying. I've been on this for about three hours now and still over 70% of a charge so I would think that getting over 5 hours would be very possible.
I did get this as a refurbished unit and had to talk with Customer Support when it just wouldn't boot up and since the recovery files are on the hard drive they had to talk me through re-formatting it without CD's. It seems kinda chintzy on Toshiba's part but it probably saves money and the environment. Needed over 10 GB to make my own recovery disks (only had 4GB flash drives handy). For my average needs, this is a very good machine that will not tax my wallet.

I purchased this computer not even a week ago and I'm going to take it back. The keyboard was nice but the mouse buttons feel like they are about to fall off, they are very cheap feeling. The laptop is a good size but the battery is massive without any benefits to counteract its huge and heavy mass. The advertised battery life from the manufacturer and from the seller says that this computer will have a battery run time of 8 hours and 36 minutes but this is only possible when the laptop is on standby otherwise my old 6-cell laptop lasted just as long. The laptop comes with an HDD protection profile which unfornately causes the computer to momentarily freeze up if it is even just slightly nudged. The unit also features an advanced audio system that is constantly glitching or shorting out based on the amount of static I get and music breaking up (music provided by cd and by pandora.com) everytime I listen to it. Overall the main features that made me choose this unit is also the main reasons I'll be returning it. It promised extended battery life which it didn't provide, it promised better audio though I must admit the sound is better than my old laptop my old one didn't crap out on me like the speakers in this one did. Sorry to say this but if given a chance please please choose a different laptop.
