on by jack.perryPros I have had THREE of these laptops, purchased at Best Buy, for about a year and a half now. I was initially more enthusiastic, but I am still a fan. For home, student, or small business purposes, this laptop offers the most bang for the buck.
Cons Somehow, some way, you MUST get a CLEAN copy of Windows 7 (64bit) and load it. Your L505 will be about 3 times faster and you will eliminate all of the idiotic BLOATware that Toshiba sees fit to load onto all of it's consumer electronics.
Summary Great laptop. Fast (see above), good screen resolution, gets the job DONE.
Do NOT deal with Best Buy if you can avoid it. Whatever price you find, you can beat it by shopping around. Do not think their tech support is available to you if you have a problem...Geek Squad ain't free.
Not that I have had any issues with my Satellite L505-ES5018. -

Web cam ok (but the blue "on" light is too bright.)Cons Touch-pad is oversensitive, I use a USB mouse and prefer it now.
Speaker have shut down a couple of times had to restart.
Sometimes takes a while to wake up.
Seizes up sometimes, makes me wonder if the dual core is working right.Summary Decent laptop for the price, get a mouse for it and turn off touch pad.

Cons webcam extremely bad, design bad, touchpad bad, battery life bad, bulky & heavy.
Summary laptop is different from desktop. when one spends more money to buy a laptop, you expect something more than a desktop. that is the problem. I am so disgusted with this laptop that i am afraid to buy any toshiba laptop.

Cons BUT CAN SOMONE TELL ME WHY I UPGRADED THE MEMORY FROM 3 GIGS TO 4 GIGS. TOOK THE 1 GIG STICK OUT AND PUT ANOTHER 2 GIG IN BUT ONLY READS 2.87 GB USABLE??? SUPPOSE TO MAX OUT @ 8 GIGS CAN SOMONE PLEASE HELP THANKS.

on by grimreaperjgPros speaker system on my laptop surpasses many others, well built, sturdy laptop. great laptop over all.
Cons web cam is horrible. fans are sort of loud and it overheats at first when you buy it but gets better with a bit of time. the touch pad is hypersensitive. and battery has around a 2 hour max life span
Summary its a really good laptop for its price range. the webcam is bad but you can easily buy a cheap one thats much better. its well built and the sound is great. a little heavier than most, and a cooling pad really helps the overheating.
