Cons Fatal issue with chipset.
Summary Buyer beware on th A215 series from Toshiba. They have had issues with the chipset since this laptop was released. I quick glance out Toshiba's website will show bios update after bios update. Unfortunately none of them fix the problem. When throttling the cpu this laptop's screen will go black and the system stop responding. The only recourse is to reboot. Toshiba tech support is horrible, they pawn everything off to their repair centers, and even though this problem is reported in tons of forums, they act like they have no clue this issue is out there. And even though they have promised multiple call backs I have yet to hear from them. If you enjoy incompetent tech support and shoddy hardware, by all means, buy this laptop. Otherwise, do not buy Toshiba. I never will again.

Summary Do not believe the 4Gb's RAM Maximum, it may not be tested and true!
I would never ever buy a laptop from Toshiba again. They are great little powerhouses that get the job done, that is for sure. But Toshiba as a company just wants to be "seen" as a great company and not actually hold up the service end of the purchasing agreement.
Take a very close look at all of the specs that are listed before you buy. I bought one of their u305 13.3″ laptops 4 1/2 months ago. The specifications on their website very clearly and proudly state that the laptop is capable of utilizing 4Gb’s of RAM. It is not! And it is not because of the chipset or board being used (others use the same and are capable of 4Gb's). It is because they could not program the bios properly to handle it.
Toshiba has since my purchase changed the manual and the online specifications for this laptop line to an upper limit of 2Gb’s RAM. After many hours on the phone with their “customer service” handlers, I am at a loss for what to do. It is at the point now that I am considering suing them. They have made absolutely no effort to rectify the situation.
It is apparently my burden to bear that the laptops specifications changed. They are not willing to allow me to return it and pay the difference for another model. They will not compensate me in any way for their mistake. I now have 2 2Gb sticks of top end OCZ sitting at home gathering dust. I cannot return them because it is past the 14 day limit. Although to OCZ’s customer service I send thanks! They are willing to send me out new (in exchange) ones if the future laptop I do buy needs differently spec’d RAM.
Stay away from Toshiba as a laptop manufacturer, they do not hold up their end of the purchase agreement and feel perfectly okay doing so.

Cons Over heats and generally runs way too hot. Overheating fried the hard drive. USB ports dont work. Screen sucks and the battery life is not what it should be.
Summary I'm glad I didnt have to pay for it. Not worth it at any price. I would never buy Toshiba. Garbage product.

Cons It takes a long time to boot up. It doesn't always boot up. It's slow. The Microsoft Suite crashes frequently. The standard programs, like Windows Media Player, don't work. The mouse doesn't scroll anymore.
Summary The only positive experience I've had with this product is the anticipation I had before I bought my first computer. I am completely dissatisfied with my computer. The system takes a long time to boot up, and it doesn't always boot up. I have to try multiple times to start my computer, and it doesn't load when I reboot after the laptop goes into sleep mode. My recommendation: don't waste your money. Buy any other computer on the market.

Cons BEEN IN THE SHOP SEVERAL TIMES!! THE WHOLE UNIT GETS HOT
Summary I GOT IT IN DEC 07 AS A CHRISTMAS GIFT.. 8 MONTHS LATER.... I GOT THE DREADED BLACK SCREEN I WAS TOLD THAT THE VIDEO DRIVER HAD TO BE REPLACED... THE WAY IT WAS EXPLAINED TO ME IS THAT THE FANS CANT BREATHE IF IT SITS IN YOUR LAP.. HELLO??? ITS A LAPTOP!!!! I WAS TOLD THAT TOSHIBA WAS AWARE OF BUT I'VE YET TO SEE A RECALL OR ADMISSION OF GUILT. THE MACHINE STILL GETS SOOOO HOT IF I USE IT FOR MORE THAN AN HOUR OR SO... IF I USE IT FOR SEVERAL HOURS IT WILL SHUT DOWN AND WHEN REBOOTING SAYS THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM AND IT DIRECTS ME TO REPAIR AT STARTUP... I HAVE HAD IT IN THE SHOP SEVERAL TIMES... I'M REALLY OVER THIS STUPID COMPUTER... I WILL NEVER BUY TOSHIBA AGAIN!!!!
