"Great for someone in need without spending a fortune"
on by wannabeflmkrPros Not overly heavy; card reader; media buttons for music/movies
Cons Battery life isn't great; Vista is still a bit buggy
Summary Overall, it's a great laptop for someone who needs one or even just wants one but doesn't want to spend a fortune for it. It usually retails for around $700 (I got mine for $550 thanks to a rebate). Vista is still a little buggy which brings down he rating a little but not much as it doesn't have anything to do with the actually computer itself. It has plenty of speed for what most people need to do. It's usable for gaming to a degree. Although I haven't played any extremely intense games on it as of yet. It's pretty light and isn't too bad to carry around. The media buttons for music and movies and the like are an awesome added feature. And I could do without the card reader. It makes it extremely easy to transfer pictures. The battery life isn't great on it but for when you will need to use it on the battery, it should last long enough for you. You also have the firewire for your camcorder and your s-video out for displaying your computer up on your TV.

"I am happy"
on by domino777Pros Weight, Hard drive space, DVD/CD Burner
Cons VISTA, VISTA, VISTA!!!!!
Summary I bought this computer for my daughter from Best Buy only because they had it for the same price without having to mail in a rebate as other stores did ($550). I have heard nothing bad about Toshiba computers and they even came out on top in Consumer Reports. So far the computer is working great, speed is good (even with Vista which I am not a fan of). I am not sure of the battery life since it stays plugged in most of the time, but I am sure my daughter will let me know how that works out. Overall a good deal for the money.

"TOSHIBA FAILS"
on by CarolynSWPros Easy to use , wireless, large screen for a laptop.
Cons Screen goes black and it requires hard boot. The bios update Toshiba provides to prevent this problem destroy the laptop making it an expensive paper weight. Toshiba offers no resolution for the many end users that have used their destructive fix.

"Great laptop for the price."
on by man4jcPros The price was very reasonable (on sale for $599). I like the large screen, the large hard drive, and the keyboard. I have had it about two weeks and am satisfied.
Cons Battery life seems a little short. It also seems to operate a little on the warm side, although this is my first laptop and I don't have anything with which to compare it.
Summary I think I got a fair deal, although I wish I had gotten 2 gigs of RAM, and may upgrade before long. This is my first laptop and I have not gotten my wireless network set up at home yet, so I cannot rate that aspect of this unit.
Overall I am very happy with it.
