Summary hello friends..first off all i am sorry to utilize this rating column..actually i am planning to ship a portege r835 lap top...for that i need the length breadth and height of the the box in which the laptop is packed from toshiba...so can anyone help me with this ?
Pros -The Portege does get great battery life--especially for a windows laptop, which in the past have lagged far behind macbooks in this area (many other 2011 windows laptops still do).
-The price is very reasonable.
-The touchpad has a very nice, smooth
Cons -The keyboard is very small and awkward-feeling, even by the standards of thin, small laptop keyboards. I've complained for years about the flat/hard/cramped feel of the keyboards on macbooks and the apple wireless keyboard that comes with imacs, but thi
Summary This appears to be the best reviewed windows laptop of 2011, and it definitely has the best battery life and a very reasonable price, but the cramped, awkward-feeling keyboard, the flimsy feel of the lid, and the need to press the smallish power button each time you want to wake the computer all make it not especially fun to use. While CNET's four star ratings might leave the impression that this and the 13 inch macbook are fairly comparable, there are very significant differences in build quality, feel, and ease of use that, depending on how much you can spend, might not make this a very good choice.
Pros Excellent pointer pad functions; iPad like. Very good performance. Very light weight. Excellent raised keyboard. (Also, I hear Toshibas have been known to keep functioning for 10 years. Never had a laptop like that before; usually 3 years max. Yeah
Cons Still some hot spots. Cooling needs to be improved to the point the user does not feel the chip heat. Perhaps some insulation on the bottom and pointing the exhaust air upward and away from the user.
Summary I have the P70. So far, battery life has been about 4 hours or so. I'm hoping it will improve. This new P70 may use more power than the P56, hence lower battery life and perhaps higher heat load. I plan to play with the power conservation function. Still, I highly recommend you try this laptop before getting anything else.
Pros light, cheap, fast and very well built
Cons no back led keyboard and the webcam isn't that good.
Summary get it. trust me, you will not regret this purchase
