Pros • Convertible Laptop that can also function as a tablet. • Disk drive / DVD Burner. • Dual Core Processor • Screen in Beautiful (I have the upgraded screen with high resolution). • Great performance
Cons Trying to adjust to a 12" screen. HIgher resolution means harder to see icons and text.
Summary I have to say that this laptop has a lot of sizzle. I upgraded from a Toshiba Tecra M2 and I am very pleased. I customized this laptop so that it has a 2.0 dual core processor with 1 gig memory in one slot so I can upgrade up the road to more memory. I also got the higher resolution screen which is very nice. I personally will use it more as a laptop rather than a tablet. I am in sales and it is appealing to me to be able to swivel the screen towards the customer. I love the compact size for traveling combined with the top of the line power that this computer offers. I am always on the road and have to carry my laptop everywhere so this is perfect for me. I have yet to run into any issues and I love the fingerprint scanner. One nice feature is that you can register sites that require username and password so that all that you have to do is swipe your finger and all the info is automatically plugged in for you. This eliminates constantly typing in your information. It also feels a lot more secure.
Pros Looks great, optical drive nice.
Cons Noisy fan always on, battery life stinks, no support.
Summary I was waiting for the release of a name brand tablet with an optical drive that I could carry. Got one of the first batch of these.
Turned it on and the fan starting buzzing right of the bat - and stayed on at all settings and use conditions. The specs say over 5 hours battery life but mine drained down in a couple hours of negligible use.
Called Toshiba and the tech knew less than me. We checked bios settings, removed and reinstalled Toshiba power saver program, etc., etc. Was told unit was defective and returned to retailer who promptly swapped for new unit.
New unit behaved the same. Called Toshiba again and second tech knew even less than the first. In process of returning to seller who will hopefully yank off their catalog. Two bad apples or design defect?
BTW: I've owned 5 Toshiba laptops in the last 20 or so years and never had a problem before.Updated
I tried two of them to be exact. With both, the fan came on with the power and remained on no matter what. For what it's worth, the battery life in laptop mode was longer than tablet mode. Though the fan speed varied, even the lowest RPM could be heard across my office. It would be disruptive in a meeting. I've since read that the Toshiba Tecra M4 had similar issues with fan noise and heat.
Though the noise made it hard to focus on the better aspects of the mchine, there were some. If you can live with a constant fan and less than promised battery life, the machine's very nice. It looks great, the screen is crisp, it has very little flex in the keyboard, it is fast enough (though I would up jettison the crapware and up the RAM from 512) and the tablet feature is cool.
Pros in tablet form it works well with the pen
Cons screen is flismy
Summary a good buy if you want a table. but for a every day laptop its not the go
Pros Wellrounded features, dual core, DVD RW, screen (if you need small) and f course, tablet features
Cons Single Battery is not a winner. A bit "thick".
Summary On my 10th business laptop. This ones tops them all. It's just a good balance of all the features I need. The tablet changes the way I use a computer and makes me more efficient and gives felxibility in tight places (planes). In meetings the Tablet smokes. Truely a business tool, just not a screen and keyboard.
Will never own a standard laptop again (unless it replaces me desktop)
"A Great Tablet PC!"on by songyop
Pros Best 12" Tablet PC on the market!
Cons constant fan noise (not as bad as people say, though)
Summary Significant improvement the most popular tablet PC to date, M200, bright and wide angled screen, great finger reader security control, convenient on-board DVD multi-writer, great build quality, great style for business use, convenient location for three USB ports, IEEE1394 port, intelligent controls with HD stereo microphones/speakers,... the list goes on an on. I have really liked the use of M200 for 2.5 years and now am loving the M400!
The fan noise is not as bad as what many people say, even though I wish it would shut off sometimes. It is on to keep the heat off the PC and that's a great compromise for any lengthy use of PC. Hot PC is worse than slight background fan noise which you don't even notice after a while.
Overall, it's a great PC!
