"Great for what it is."
on by casualsuedePros The Sound is great, the screen is bright and detailed and it is fast for a $600 notebook. The battery lasts forever and Vista is good.
Cons hmmm....It's sorta big and bulky, the keyboard squeaks and Tosiba's user manual stinks...I still don't know how to activate the webcam!!!!
Summary If you need a good computer with looks and desktop functionality, this Toshiba is for you. The T5800 processor is fast and combined with Vista, it is faster than my Dell Latitude E6400, which has Windows XP and a Intel P8400 Processor!
While I really like the ergonomics of the keyboard, it squeaks and therefore feels cheap. I am a fan of the sound, but I don't think there are any hard keys for the volume controls, which sucks when you are playing a game.
The toshiba does not come with Windows Office or many other software (such as permanent anti-virus, only trial version) preinstalled, and while this is not out of the ordinary, be prepared to purchase software that you need.
The notebook is not very portable, but the battery is good and lasts a while. I got alittle over 3 hours, not the 4+ the reviewer got.
It is handsome, even though I am not a big fan of Toshiba labeling their notebook in such large lettering (my Dell is much more subtle), it does use glossy plastics, which may look alittle cheap and can pick up alot of fingerprints.
Overall, for the price, Bellissima! -
"Worth for the money I paid for this piece"
on by CouponAlbumPros 1: Battery Life
2: Screen Size
3: Toshiba Utilities (Like Speech Recognition ScreenSaver, Button Keys)
4: Ease of use with the keypadCons :-D only and only the gloss finish. Lenovo Y730 body would have been a deadly combination with these specification & price tag.

"Great Computer so far..."
on by westphillyresPros Power, Battery, Speakers, 4 usb ports, firewire, eSATA, runs cool, wireless n wifi card, and great build quality.
Cons Webcam and the battery adds a little bulk(I personally don't care about that, but you might).
Summary This thing runs great. After you edit the registry, and get rid of the Bloatware it's a beast. The battery will actually go for a little more than 5 hours when your doing basic web browsing. The Harman/Kardon speakers are great sounding for games and movies. I've never had it heat up on me, and I play Halo:Combat Evolved on it all the time. When it's in power saver mode, and it's on your lap; you feel cold air coming from the fan rather than hot.
The webcam is really grainy in low light. -

- No BluetoothSummary Faster than my desktop and Vista doesn't seem as bad as everyone makes it out to be. I've already downloaded several apps from CNET and they were quick and work perfectly. This is replacing my desktop so it's not light. The weight is 6 lbs. without the 9 cell battery. For the things I do surfing, watching DVDs, gaming with BigFish games this is perfect. All in all I've very happy with my purchase. I had originally planned on buying a Apple Powerbook but the $2,000 price tag and that didn't include the software to run both Windows and Leopard at the same time. Plus the possible cost of fixing the laptop if it broke was enough for me to stick with a PC. Another Dell, I have Dell Inspirion 5000 desktop, was my second choice but once you start with the base and begin to customize and upgrade we're talking about $1,500 not including tax and shipping. Then I checked out Best Buy and this was $599 with a 9-cell battery and I could get MS Office Home and Student 2007 for $79 I couldn't pass it up. Definately glad I shopped and priced before I sent myself back into credit debt over a computer that I will eventually replace in 3 years. Nope my last Dell desktop is the last time I will buy a PC for over a $1,000.

"Great laptop...can't say enough of the performance!"
on by pauldavidellisonPros Battery life is awesome...I haven't owned a laptop yet that has had more than 3 hours of battery life, but with this laptop, with a fully charged battery, I can get 4.5 hours of use out out of the laptop before recharging.
Cons No cons whatsoever.
Summary Great battery life...boots up super fast...haven't run into any bumps when running programs..I would recommend this laptop to anyone!
